Doing a photo session in Spaarndam has been on my list of things to do since we moved to Haarlem. The small village, which is a ten minute cycle away from my home, is famous for its mention in the 1865 American novel, Hans Brinker or the Silver Skates, about a Dutch boy, "The Hero of Haarlem," who stuck his finger in a dike to prevent the town from flooding.

When Aleksandra emailed me to ask if I would be willing to take photos of them in Spaarndam I was beyond excited, I love everything about this session, everything just worked so well! The family, the location, the light, the mood, the weather, just everything was perfect!
